the perfect weekend

i think this weekend really reached what i would consider perfection.

saturday, i slept til noon, enjoyed uber-slacker breakfast with the boy, and then settled in on the balcony for some gardening love.

the geekiness-level of my gardening is increasing, especially with my new book on plant propagation that i got for xmas. i took clippings from all my favorite plants and tried different ways to root them from the book, as well as trying to make my oregano plant spawn its runners into new plants.

(i would be thrilled to bore you with the details that txncmel had to endure about these new practices, but i am pretty sure none of you care to indulge me as much as she does 😉

i also planted 2 kinds of basil and catnip seeds, since i could justify that they would yeild usable crops before i have to move 🙂

and all the while i was dirty and engaged in gardening, the boy was reading out loud to me.

heaven.

and then there was housecleaning, a bit of yoga, and getting dolled up for the club. my new frederick’s corset came in, and i was up for trying something different. this lead to a 40’s pinup girl sort of look, complete with hairdo and makeup. it was much fun 🙂

it was a great night out with good dancing, coming home to…well, skin my elbow 😉 , and then late-night showings of stargate and west wing.

sunday was another sleeeeeeeeping in morning and uber-slacker breakfast, and then a field trip out to the greenbelt to wander the trails and riverbed and soak up the amazing weather. the day ended with general laziness and reading.

i felt like i got exactly what one should out of a weekend, with nary a though of work or obligations.

<deep happy sigh>

  1. ‘as well as trying to make my oregano plant spawn its runners into new plants’
    oh!oh! Is oregano one of those freakish ones that all you have to do is bury part of a runner to get it to spawn???? I love plants like that!

    1. i noticed zephyr gloating after i read that comic. i think he thought your meant *he* was god’s cat, and therefore had a better chance of usurping david for my undying love 😉

  2. Let’s see…. I’ve planted seeds for black poppies, black pansies, black hollyhock, purple angel trumpet, lemon balm,and peppermint. I still need to plant seeds for parsley, purple morningglories, and purple basil (and whatever else I bought last year and didn’t try to plant). I’m trying to replenish both mine and the Z’otz plants.

    1. i can never say enough how much i love your gardening 🙂 i just split out our elephant ear you gave us from last year. do you still have yours? i could bring you one if not!
