i got an email this weekend saying that they found the fault in our underwater power cable – 4800′ from shore and 180′ underwater. sounds daunting, no?
the part that really got me though is that they are 2 weeks into applying for the environmental studies and permits to fix it – and they won’t be done with that and able to start fixing it until the END OF MARCH. you’d think someone in the bureaucracy of hippie-enviro-land could fast-track this process for an emergency where 1200 people are paying $400k/mo for temporary power while waiting for the cable to be fixed.
i think we’ll be lucky to see it fixed by the time we return home in late april.
that is just insane.
goddamn hippies!

Time to install solar and sell power back to the island! 🙂
Solar? In the PNW?? What about winter? (and most of fall and spring?)
