unexpected days

so the boy was scheduled to fly to san diego today to help patchworkalice get all settled in.

we missed getting him on the 7:30am ferry by literally seconds…the guy had just closed the gate and, of course, policy says they don’t open it again.

<sighs>

so that meant he missed the shuttle scheduled to pick him up on the other side.

<sighs>

it was really too early to be frustrated. we caught the next ferry and i got him to the airport with an hour to spare and finally made it home at 12:30pm (because, of course, i missed catching the 10:20 ferry by about 10 minutes).

this was all a useful little lesson in why none of you will ever see me “pop out” for a weekend flight to visit friends 🙂 our life is many things but convenient and expedient are not among them!

it made me muse about just how different our lives out here are…i think that will become a topic for further lj musing in the near future 🙂

when i got home, the kittens started explaining their confusion that i hadn’t brought their father home with me. i fixed coffee (*finally*!), made lunch, gave them a few new cat toys (who’s spoiled?), and started work.

and they kept crying. and crying. and crying.

really, its cruel. it was this heartwrenching, ceaseless noise. two hours later, they finally gave up and passed out. they are just now really waking up again and i am hoping they have exhausted the crying. how can i endure that?

today was one mad dash and i am glad it is done. i managed to catch up on work, cook myself a tasty dinner that the boy would never have touched, and now i have my eye on some yoga, kittens and maybe a little personal web project work.

or maybe just a warm bed and a book 🙂

OH! and a check arrived for the outstanding invoice from difficultClient today!

  1. Kaylee is completely shameless when it comes to meowing loudly for attention if you are doing anything but petting her (at which point she usually fidgets). She has one of those little batty-balls on a string that she insists on dragging all over the house and carries on forever if we take it away from her.

    I wanted a cat, not a toddler 😛
