dry creek wine valley is simply divine.

after 2 days of wine-tasting, we are 16 bottles and a jug heavier, and i look forward to each and every single bottle.

we dropped becca_maru in san francisco this morning and rolled into san diego this evening.

it will be nice to hunker down for a few days of work and focus before the mad dash from SD to austin (yes, straight).

i am feeling a little blarchy with something…and i’m not sure how that will affect my visit and time here. i think i’ll see how i feel in the morning. sore throats and snarky sinuses do not bode well for recreational activities, but i am crossing my fingers.

for now, we are safe, cozy, warm, and stationary 🙂

fortune seems to be smiling on me…perhaps because i paid some heavy dues last week.

my projects have wrapped up or hit a pausing point and i am thisclose to beginning what i hope will be a delicious tradition of our Southern Sojourn.

i can’t wait to wine-taste and ring in this trip properly.

things are starting to look packed and organized.

major items on the list, like finding a house-sitter, getting the tree cut down, etc have been taken care of.

6 hours of work a day instead of 10 or 12 has left me feeling slightly less strung out.

my office now has *beautiful* lighting, drywall complete and ready for trim and painting, and a door that closes.

we get to have becca_maru from mon-thurs here in our little haven in the woods before we pack her in the car to tour the dry creek wine valley with us 🙂 she is proof that if you are in the vicinity of the gypsies when they pack their caravan, and you have a spirit for adventure, you too can sign on for the ride 😉

i am feeling worlds better today. i am still insane with work, but it’s manageable.

and i have austin and nola to look forward to!

flash, why doth thou hate me?

its not really flash’s fault, it is more the dynamic of delivering a product with a) functionality you have never developed b) for a language not native to you (spanish) and c) the inevitable time-consuming, unpredictable troubleshooting that results from flash work.

when i design, its intuitive. it may be picky and tedious, but its predictable. the troubleshooting is why i will NEVER be a coder.

since saturday, i have worked 58 billable hours, all but about 5 hours on this flash project.

i am uploading to the server, and i hope my final QA will be kind.

the really really shitty part of this is that now, at the end of it, i realize that due to circumstances i really didn’t foresee (the verbosity of the spanish language, primarily), there are aspects of the tutorial that i really can’t just toggle between languages dynamically. so it very well may be that *all* my work to make it so was wasted. the jury is still out on that. i figure i’ll look at it again when my brain works.

right now its just numb.

hopefully now, i can focus on all my other clients.

and i would really like to take a shower. i can’t remember my last waking moment that wasn’t spent in front of the screen or acquiring food.

and maybe tomorrow i can think about the fact that we are leaving the state in 6 days.

its a rainy, though a bright grey-skied day.

my house is full of boys, gathered for the purpose of a gaming weekend, and one irresistibly beautiful girl to help play hostess, game a tad, and keep me dizzy with kisses.

i am in such a good work groove, and it brings me joy to find such peace and harmony with a house full of friends, days filled with work, and evenings of gaming and fun.

it seems like this will be a portent of the goodness to come in austin, and i am grateful today for having such a sense of balance.
