Like everything, a journal is the reflection of a journey and its form morphs with time. This archive covers my blogging from 1999-2002.

The Blogger years. It started as I began travelling and wanted a more daily journal of my life to share with my friends.

"Not all who wander are lost."

i am *finally* sane enough to recount the last week, and share this experience with you.

<hophophop> i did it! i'm here! it is so amazing to have a big dream & make it happen. if you dont know, you need to try it. there is something to be said for putting yourself out there if you believe in what you are doing :)

considering that we spent 50 hours driving, it was a remarkably good trip. we left around noon on friday, and arrived at david's aunt's house in palm springs, CA on saturday at noon. got a good night sleep & relaxed, and then back on the road at 11am on sunday and arrived in olympia around 1pm.

things of note along the way:

1) my cats, who i expected to be very angry & upset with me, were real road-warrior kitties. even hobbes just chilled out, slept most of the days, prowled around the very packed car at night, stared out windows, gave us lovings, used the litterbox and in general, just kept his cool. it was like an itty-bitty house that moved and they didnt seem too disturbed by it. *amazing*. only once at about midnight of day 2 of travelling, did hobbes walk out of his cat carrier, stand in between david and i, and let out several stern & annoyed meows. and then he marched back into his carrier & went back to sleep. i think at 40 hours into the trip, he deserved to log a verbal complaint :)

2) the charming little pack of vw buses in arizona. there were about 8 of them, all painted pretty, and 1 little vw bug tagging along. it was so cute i squealed.

3) our karma angels pushed the car to a gas station at one point. we were running out of gas, on the exit ramp...david pulled the car over to the shoulder..the gas station was within sight. and just for kicks, he tries starting it again...an lo & behold, it starts and *drives* to the gas station, where we marvelled as we put 18 gallons in the 18 gallon tank. i truly believe they pushed.

4) not one fight, disagreement, or cross word spoken. i know...you dont believe me. after got everything moved upstairs (with the help of our god-send Bob), david looked at me and said "I'M RIGHT & YOUR WRONG!" i gazed at him quizzically, knowing he had finally lost his mind. he repeated the statement, and i replied slowly, "no....i'm right. fuck....you?" at this point he grinned widely and said "there, we fought!" i think there was an unwritten rule that when you spend 72 hours straight in moving hell that you have to argue. <shrugs>

so then we were here. and the apartment was...smaller than we remembered...but an even better location than we had remembered, so it all balanced out.

unfortunately, there were also some downturns in our little venture...david had a death in the family, so he had to leave for minnesota yesterday & wont be back until monday. and my work situation got pretty stressful, but is now back to good. i guess not everything can go perfectly.

but i can now almost see all of the floor in the living room & soon the bedroom will look less like a tornado hit :) soon, i will take pictures so you can see :)

i get my cablemodem today :):)

i love the fact that i can pad down to the starbucks across the street...or a few blocks to the grocery store. the farmers market opens this weekend <happy dance>

so we made it. i look around and i think of all the cool stuff i have to look forward to....right after i get some sleep <grins>

i wanted to thank all of you who have wished us well and sent love along the way. god knows there were times we needed it desperately.

so, hopefully, this becomes a hot spot to peek into my new life. i look forward to having things to write about :)
