hello ladies :)

its been a while since i have posted a Wedding Council filtered post!

today i took a field trip with housegirl to Flora Savage to visit susie vaughn on el_diavalo‘s recommendation. he had given her a heads-up on my general tastes, and she had already marked some ideas in a few books and i was thrilled. i tell you, i *love* letting creative professionals do their job! 🙂

she really nailed the look immediately, and we have settled on a hand-tied bouquet style for both my sister and i. i picked up some beauitful cream ribbon from the craft store that has words like love, hope, eternity, and other touching and lovely sentiments to use to tie the bouquets and corsages.

i really tried to find pictures of some approximation of what we settled on online, just to give you a small idea, but to my delight and shock, there is *nothing* like it out there! it can only be described as incredibly organic and wild. rather than a manicured, arranged feel, the bouquet looks more like i walked through a field of cream colored wildflowers and just started picking flowers and leafy things. the textures are wonderful, and it seems to feel like an extention of the lace of the dress. we will work in a few daisies to satisfy my Obsession, but for the most part it will be many different flavors of in-season flowers.

for my sisters, i want the same sort of organic feel but we will work in a few eggplant-colored calla lillies and other dark and wild looking flowers, tied with a black ribbon.

light, lovely lillies for corsages for moms & grandmothers.

simple, distinguished cream-colored boutonnieres for our dads and the best man. and for the boy, a cream-colored gerber daisy 🙂

we are going to pin down details next month, but i am just thrilled with the ideas we settled on.

i am all aflutter at having the dress, shoes, veil, jewelry, and flowers all squared away. the daisy tiara definately made it into the outfit and i feel like i have fulfilled the ultimate 4 year-old fantasy 🙂 i am scoping out bella donna spa packages for the week prior to the wedding and i need to swing by and make hair & nail appointments for us at eclipse salon for the day of the wedding.

we finished the wedding favors last week and i am so excited for everyone to see them 🙂 i found deliciously creamy hand-made paper that was sturdy enough and we designed our own seed packets for daisy seeds. we rotated through a list of about 35 quotes we really dug, so only 3-4 packets have the same quote.

we pieced together and edited the ceremony this weekend, and it was really indescribable to sit on the balcony with wine and work through it together. i feel like every piece of this event is being slowly infused with our energy and that leaves me feeling so good about being able to give this to our friends and loved ones – to share what we usually keep tucked from public view.

goodness, listen to me ramble and blind you with my glow! 🙂 i meant to keep you all abreast of this as it happened, but really in the last 2 weeks, its like the Wedding Snowball took over!

next on the list is wedding processional music, and i think i am leaning most heavily toward canon in d – i *love* what this string quartet has done with it, and now the challenge is to find cd versions of this that i like as much! i would like my sister to come in with the one called “CANON IN D by Pachelbel”, which uses one portion of the piece, and then have me come in with another part they call “FANFARE & BRIDAL ENTRANCE from CANON by Pachelbel”. i’m not 100% on it yet, but out of everything i checked out, this just felt the most…*right* for going classical.

i don’t suppose you guys have any brilliant processional suggestions, huh? 🙂

ok, i have hogged you long enough. thanks for reading – its nice to be able to share the girly-bits in secret!

    I’m partial to In Your Eyes by Peter Gabriel… 😉 Although, if you’re looking for something on string or organ, that might not work out so well… 😛

  2. Actually, my mom used Pachabell’s Canon in D as her processional, and it is still one of the loveliest songs for that sort of thing that I can think of. Very elegant and classical and not entirely standard :} Since she was in the church choir at the time, their organist played it for her, but the string versions are just beautiful.. I guess what I’m saying is, I think you’ve already got your brilliant idea ;}
